I purchased my St3@m Controller during the summer sale 2017, which is over 2 years after this controller was first brought to market. As such, many of the commonly referenced negatives about the controller have been resolved through software updates since then.
The St3@m Controller is extremely unique, which is why I think it gets a slightly mixed/negative reputation (69% positive over the last 30 days, 75% positive overall). I believe that when people purchase the St3@m Controller, they let their expectations ruin their potential enjoyment of the device. The St3@m Controller is something that takes a lot of time to learn to enjoy. Even for me personally, who has wanted a St3@m Controller since they released, I wasn't sure if I was going to like my controller after using it for the first hour. I had a kind of nervous, 'did I just waste $35?' moment there for a bit. However, after using it for only a little under a month, it is my preferred controller (compared to Xbox One/PS4 controllers).
